circusSPARK 1st General Meeting of 2011: 2.22.11

Alright you circus freaks, it’s time to start the planning for circusSPARK 2011. Part of the annual September street festival SPARKcon, circusSPARK provides an opportunity for all the local performers to showcase their talent in downtown Raleigh, while collaborating with other artists in the area. Last year was the inaugural year of circusSPARK and we’re gearing up for another amazing event! The first circusSPARK general meeting is Tuesday, 8pm at Tir Na Nog. Anyone that wants to be involved is welcome to come– circus performers, organizers, planners, volunteers– it takes all types to bring together such a unique event. Hope to see you there!

For those of you interested in other facets of SPARKcon, the SPARKcon general meeting will be Monday, 6:30pm at the Design Box. Again, all are welcome to attend.

Dr.Sketchy’s @ Black Flower – Thursday, 2/24/11

Never heard of Dr. Sketchy’s?  They are the Anti-Art School here in Raleigh.  This means they don’t sit around in a classroom painting ugly naked people to classical music, Oh no!  These art monkeys get together at some of downtown’s coolest bars, drinking an drawing, drawing and drinking.  The models are…well, let’s just say they’re not your average Mona Lisa.  Dr. Sketchy models are burlesque bombshells, bearded women, tattooed man-ballerinas and ACROBATS!

The next session will feature Katie and Kaci of AcroEntertainment (that’s us!)….acrobatic yoga contortionists extraordinaire! There’s also rumors of a surprise performance by a certain mystery guest….hmmmm. And its Virginia’s birthday so…cake anyone? $8 per person. $6 for existing members who bring a new guest!

Check out photos from the last AcroEntertainment appearance at Dr.Sketchy’s.

As always, we’d like to thank Pabst Blue Ribbon for their continued support within the community.
