FYI: We are scheduled to perform at the St. A’s party in Chapel Hill this Saturday with local, indie-rock band Lake Inferior. These guys put on an incredible show and we are really excited to take the stage with them during a song you’ll have to hear (and see) to believe. If you can’t make it to the show, check back for some live video recording.
Salsa- “hot” flavor
Pondering the idea of taking Salsa Dance Lessons. Sounds like a fun way to spend a Thursday evening. Does it count for professional development? According to Arthur Murray (a dance studio in Raleigh) SALSA “is a favored name for a type of Latin music which, for the most part, has its roots in Cuban culture and is enhanced by jazz textures. The word, Salsa, means sauce denoting a “hot” flavor and is best distinguished from other Latin music styles by defining it as the New York sound developed by Puerto Rican musicians in New York. The dance structure is largely associated with mambo type patterns and has a particular feeling that is associated mainly with the Clave and the Montuno.” I think I’ll have to check it out for myself. Mad About Dance Academy and Arthur Murray offer Salsa lessons as well as Dance Four Fun. Also check out the Red Room on Thursday nights. Half priced Sangria and $10 cover for Salsa, not bad. The triangle area is quite the place to connect with all types of dance classes!
